Remember back in the 1980s when govt and councils used to string up used car tyres and throw them into the sea to make artificial reefs? Its now found that such tyre reefs are an ecological disaster.

Basically, the tyres eventually break free from their rope moorings - then the tides and currents cause them to drift - damaging existing coral reefs, badly.
No one else considered the impact of throwing tyres - which are made out of oil and rubber - into the world's oceans.
Don't worry. When they removed the tires- they plan to burn them... arggghhhh!!!!!!!!!
