Photographic Journal Part 2 of the trip to the Maldives. On board the MV Eagle Ray Live on Board (LoB) May 23rd - 2nd June 2008. Spectacular scuba diving. Total of 29 dives - including one open sea crazy snorkel swim with a whale shark.

But for me I love the sea- I love scuba diving because it gives me the freedom of swimming like a fish in the deep blue. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be in outer space - being weightless, seemingly unhampered by gravity, this comes close. I fly, I soar. Its such a beautiful experience.

(Update: I just watched a documentary on Astronauts - and one part of their training involves training as scuba divers - as being underwater mimics being in outer space).

My photography skills seem to have improved. I learnt how to use a torch to help illuminate some of the shots. Camera used is a point and shoot Fuji F31 with the original underwater housing.

hi jamie, welcome to my blog. Which photo did you like?? I used a ordinary Fuji F31D simple camera to take all these photos. Point and shoot - not SLR. I use it scuba with the underwater housing for it - cost an extra $200. Its pretty good but old. And the new Fuji are not good.

That is DAMN nice... Pity about the diver in the shot, or I would have used it as a backdrop for my worship slides! Beautiful all the same!

lol. But that's the point - but hmmm... I should take some photos without a diver in it. :)

Whoaaahhh!!! There are so many Triggerfish! It's good they did'nt come near you!

You ought to see the photo of the Titan Triggerfish nesting ground - it was like a World War One minefield.

Where is the picture of that? By the way, how can you come close to their nesting ground? Triggerfish are aggressive when you'r close to their nest, is that right?

Not so in the Maldives. We got pointblank close and they were not aggressive. I'll post a video up of me going up close with one of them later.
