I got an invite from my Uncle to sit at the VIP stand. Its quite a spectacle.
When the helicopters went pass with that big flag, I couldn't help feel "very Singaporean" and very proud of my nation and people.
I've been away from Singapore for nearly 20 years (off and on), the time abroad however has mellowed me somewhat, I've come to be less critical and more understanding.
The thing that keeps Singapore going is the people. Singaporeans make it a great nation. Yet you also have to hand it to Lee Kuan Yew and his party for managing the economy and society. Their contemporaries include Mugabe, Marcos, Idi Amin, etc.. If you compare Singapore to the others, its done pretty well.
