Some thoughts on Asian culture

For some reason Japan, and all Asian societies prefer the indirect approach to solving things. I think its the way power is wielded and used in society. Obsequious behavior is required from followers. Dissent is seen as rebellion. Rationale civil debate and thought is seen as an affront to rulers - as people dare to question the status quo. We've got a lot to thank the ancient Greeks for in that regard.
