A Day in Hell

Massive bushfires engulfed Victoria on Friday when temperatures soared to 46C and high winds fanned flames. The fire wall was over 14m tall. The town, Marysville burnt to the ground, mothers died with their children in their homes. Families trying to escape the fires were trapped in their cars as the trees lining the roads burst into flames. Its a real horror.

Veteran News Anchor Brian Naylor and his wife were killed.

Over 600 homes burnt to the ground. 70+ people have been reported killed by the flames.

Shit. And its getting worse.

Every year Australia experiences hot and dry summers which create ideal conditions for bush fires. Unfortunately, arsonists are responsible for a number of the fires.

Its simply terrible. I didn't think it was going to be that bad - but it seems the heat from the previous week was building up. Over here it didn't feel that hot; we didn't even turn on the aircon. But the forecast of strong winds coupled with high heat was a big warning.
