Sunken Treasure in the Java Sea

More precisely, the Gaspar Straits, Sumatra - about ... 100 - 200 miles off Singapore. An Arab merchant ship sunk here over a thousand years ago - and with it - 63,000 pieces of gold, silver, porcelain and precious objects from the Tang dynasty. It also included the largest ever gold cup made by Tang artisans found.

In 2005, the Singapore Government paid $50 million dollars for this treasure to put into the new museum.

There should be plenty more of such treasure ships under our seas waiting to be discovered. :)
