The Drive from Stockland Pines Shopping Centre to historic St Andrews Hotel (Draft)

This is the drive up to St Andrews which I take from my home in Doncaster East. For convenience I'll use the Stockland Pines Shopping Mall as the starting off point.

Here is the GOOGLE MAP link -

Stockland The Pines Shopping Mall
Location: 181 Reynolds Rd, Doncaster East VIC 3109

Meet up at the carpark in front of the Westpac NAB banks at “Stockland The Pines” Corner of Blackburn Road and Reynolds Road. There are two other carparks and another entrance into this mall - don't confuse.

Landmarks: United Petrol Station

2. Route 42 - Warrandyte Road
From Reynolds Rd, turn left into Anderson Creek Rd, and then right into Warrandyte Rd. At the next roundabout turn left up the hill following Route 42.

Landmarks:  Beasley’s Nursery Tea House, Warrandyte CFA

(Warning: Redspot - Tindals Road; there’ve been bad accidents here at the intersections; avoid it)

3. Warrandyte town : Route 42.
Follow Yarra Street Route 42 Warrandyte Rd it turns into Yarra Street

The Grand - Grand Hotel Warrandyte (Pub serves awesome steak)
Yarra River walk path - nice walking route to sit and feed the ducks
Warrandyte Bakery which serves some of the best meat pies this side of Melbourne.

Its a busy strip and parking here can be a problem

4. Route 9 - Kangaroo Ground- Warrandyte Road
Turn left at the roundabout into the Yarra River bridge.

Landmarks: Roundabout cafe - a small shabby chic cafe. They serve home made cakes, biscuits, scones. I love this cafe a lot. It is small and it will be hard to accomodate a large group.

(Notes: A few hairpin bends once you drive pass Flood Road and Yeoman Road. The countryside is beautiful here.)

5. Eltham-Yarra Glen Road - Route 9 - Route C728
Turn right at the roundabout into Eltham-Yarra Glen Road (the sign has gone missing)
Landmarks: The glorious Massaros Vineyard,
A traditional Presbyterian red brick church and the red roof of the Kangaroo Ground General Store

6. Panton Hill - Route C728 Kangaroo Ground- St Andrews Road

You’ll pass two small roundabouts at Panton Hill - go straight

Landmarks: Panton Hill pub - black bull statue, Panton Hill post office

7. Destination End: St Andrews Hotel:
79 Burn St, St Andrews VIC.

Landmarks: St Andrews Forest Market area (empty on Sunday),

Ample Parking is available in the St Andrews Community Market area and behind the Boy Named Sue cafe.

The "Boy Named Sue" cafe serves delicious wood fired pizzas. They also have draft beer.
