More precisely, the Gaspar Straits, Sumatra - about ... 100 - 200 miles off Singapore. An Arab merchant ship sunk here a thousand years ago - and took with it 63,000 pieces of gold, silver, porcelain and precious objects from the Tang dynasty. It also included the largest ever gold cup made by Tang artisans.In 2005, the Singapore Government paid $50 million dollars for this treasure to put into the new museum.
There should be plenty more of such treasure ships under our seas waiting to be discovered. :)
