This type of seahorse is very tiny. Measuring about 2cm, no bigger than your thumbnail.
Totally adorable, they were only discovered recently due to their excellent camoflage.
Update:
Pardon me- they aren't mini - they are pygmy seahorses; otherwise known by the cool name of hippocampus bargibanti.

you can seriously go cock eye when you're actually looking at them..imagine looking for a 1cm creature among a huge 1m sea fan.. woah!
Yeah, when I dived at Mabul in 2007, I saw them too. You're right, its hard to closely examine at them underwater. Maybe if they were in a fish tank? lol
ohmygosh so cute! how come i never get to see these things underwater.......?!?!
Hi Ann, depends on where you dive. The small reef under Mabul near Sipadan has them. I'm heading back there in April and hopefully will encounter them again. :)
