Good Scuba Diving Camera and shop

Hi scuba friends,

u know who u are. just need to ask a quick question. I'm thinking of getting an underwater camera - digital of course. I've been recommended the Fuji F50. It takes great photos underwater in poor light.

Click here for the review of the Fuji F50

What do you reckon? I just want something small and compact to begin with.

As for buying it - I'll probably go to MScolor in Ang Mo Kio. I heard that they are honest and know what they talking about and give good service - but that's heresay. Anyone want to share their experiences?

  1. What's your budget? I got my G9 from MS today.. it was an absolute rash purchase but definitely very happy about it =D

  2. Hmmm.... about $1000. But its not so much the cash but more the appropriateness. You got the g9? Thats nice would like to hear your review on it. I will probably get the Fuji F50 - good camera for a beginner scuba diver and photographer - appropriate lol.

  3. $1000 for camera alone or camera + housing?
If you are shooting macro objects, I'll suggest going for cameras with 1cm macro range. You may want to check out the Canon A640, quite a lot of people are using it. Previously I was deciding between A640 and G7. Main differences is price and A640 uses AA batteries instead.

Do a search on Dpreview using side-by-side comparison. Throw in a couple camera and do a judge. For a start you can select G9, A640 and F50 to see how they each differ. :)

  4. $1k for cam+under water housing. I can spend more but my current situation doesn't justify it lol. Seems a bit silly to spend $2000 - $5000 on a scuba camera + housing when I don't go scuba diving that often- well, if I did go scuba divin more often - I might.

  6. Did a read around..seems like it's discontinued but I'm sure there's still shops who carries it. Call up MS to check. Someone just bought a F40fd with housing from MS @ $700. If you get Fuji F50, results will be more or less the same, but of cos camera is better than f40 :)
